Product Glossary

Our in-depth glossary below compiles all of the most commonly used phrases and terms listed on our products to help select the item that's right for you.



    A technique that creates fullness by tightening threads in a row of stitching. Also see shirring and/or ruching.


    A very common pattern that's usually associated with checkerboard.


    An eyelet that is reinforced with metal or plastic. Also used as a durable closure or decoration.


    Halter Top:

    A sleeveless bodice with a high choke or wrap-neck that is usually backless.

    Handkerchief Style:

    The hem of a blouse, skirt or dress that is gently jagged to form flowing points.

    Heathered Fabric:

    Heathered Fabric refers to interwoven yarns of mixed colors producing flecks of an alternate color. It is typically used to mix multiple shades of gray or gray with another color to produce a muted shade (e.g., heather blue), but any two colors can be mixed.

    High-Low Hem:

    A hemline higher in the front or on one side for a dramatic flounce effect.


    A pattern that's usually associated with Alabama Crimson Tide apparel. Another "check" category pattern



    The inside seam of a pant or short leg.


    Inside of a shoe, usually covered by a sock lining.



    A raised design or pattern woven into a fabric as opposed to being printed on the fabric.

    Jock Tag:

    A Jock Tag is the tag on the lower left front of a jersey which could contain the league logo, jersey size, manufactures logo, team logo, player name and player number.
